Jamayla Gray is a multi-state Licensed Professional Counselor dedicated to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health, identity, and recovery. With active licensure in California (LPCC #19851), Idaho (DOPL #9971261), and Texas (LPC #101778), Jamayla brings a wealthy, cross-cultural perspective to her clinical practice and her leadership at Stripes That Heal, Corporation.

Jamayla believes that healing begins with a secure, authentic relationship. She provides an open-minded, matter-of-fact environment where clients can safely deconstruct childhood messages, explore cultural backgrounds, and embrace their true sexual identities. Her approach is rooted in the belief that while our pasts may shape us, they do not have to define our future. As she often reminds her clients, "Don’t look back; you’re not going that way."

With over six years of diverse experience, Jamayla has practiced in high-intensity settings, including:

  • Correctional & Legal Systems: Working closely with the court system, parole, and probation offices.
  • Residential Recovery: Providing clinical support within sober living environments.
  • High-Performance Environments: Consulting and counseling within the entertainment industry.

She specializes in helping clients heal from childhood trauma, abandonment, and the rebuilding of trust. Her clinical toolkit is evidence-based and adaptive, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Jamayla is a fierce advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community and those battling systemic challenges. Her expertise includes:

  • Behavioral Intervention: Psychoeducation in Batterer’s Intervention (BIPP), Anger Management, and Substance Abuse.
  • Holistic Wellness: Addressing ADHD, mindful eating, body image, and gender-affirmative readiness.
  • Specialized Assessments: Providing ESA Assessments/Letters and Gender Affirmation Assessments/Letters.

When she isn’t empowering her clients to reach their personal goals, Jamayla finds her own balance through yoga, traveling, and soul-filling time with her family and friends.

Now Accepting New Clients Jamayla is currently accepting adult individuals for therapy, ESA evaluations, and Gender Affirmation support. To begin your journey of healing, reach out to Stripes That Heal, Corporation today.

Stripes That Heal was born from a simple but profound observation: the most vulnerable members of our community—specifically those in the LGBTQIA+ community and those battling substance abuse and mental illness—were often falling through the cracks of a fragmented system.

We saw individuals who had the will to change but lacked the stable housing to do it safely, or the specialized education to make that change permanent. Our founder recognized that "healing" isn't a single event; it is a series of earned "stripes"—marks of resilience, education, and hard-won progress.
